The union is a pipe fitting designed for a simple connection and disconnection for any future pipe maintenance and replacements. The union is similar to the coupling, but a coupling requires additional, lengthy work to disconnect and remove from the piping system. Unions have three parts to the configuration consisting of a male end, a hex nut and a female end.
