The Barrier Defense Systems BDS-AWB50 SHIELD is a state-of-the-art M50(K12) wedge barrier, or "road blocker," featuring precision fabrication and welding. The SHIELD is ASTM F2656-M50 certified, proven to stop a 15,000 lb (6,804 kg) vehicle traveling at 50 mph (80 kph).

It is the perfect barrier for final denial applications and high-risk access control points.

  • Simplified Drive System: Uses a single actuator drive system with no spring assist or counterweighting, reducing complexity and maintenance.
  • COTS Components: The entire actuation system uses commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) components, making maintenance easier and minimizing downtime with no proprietary rework.
  • Sealed Hydraulics: The drive is a sealed, internal IP68-rated hydraulic system with minimal hydraulic lines.
  • Control System Flexibility: While we offer our own controls group, we do not use proprietary software, allowing you to use your controls and custom sequence of operations.
